Meditation
Validated By Over 600 Scientific Studies
By Mellissa Magrum
When you were
very young science has proven you existed in a state of quiet meditation.
Infants
are constantly slipping into and out of a dreamlike stasis which
is very similar to the hypnogonic state. Easily put, it’s that half
awake feeling as your just drifting into sleep or that groggy mist
while slowly awakening. For
most infants this is coupled with a deep brain-level of activity
referred to as the delta state. A deep and peaceful trance-like
state shared with many yoga masters. Watching
my 9 month old son Michael I notice more and more of this soft peaceful
state drifting away daily as he becomes more aware. I wonder how
much stress, thoughts, vocalization, interaction and life affects
our well being and happiness. - Full

Brain
Waves and Meditation
By
Veronique Cartier
What,
specifically, do the terms beta, alpha, theta, and delta mean for
the contemporary meditator? What type of changes actually occur
in brain-wave frequencies as one progressively experiences a more
holistic awareness? Current technology, including the one-of-a-kind
"Brain Monitor" developed by Synchronicity Foundation's research
team, enables us to answer these questions with precision.

Meditation and The
Heart
By Shashi Agarwal MD
In the
June 12, 2006, issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, researchers
reported a reduction in blood pressure and insulin resistance in
patients with coronary heart disease when they practiced transcendental
meditation for 16 weeks. In an earlier study published in Stroke
in 2000, practitioners of transcendental meditation for 20 minutes
twice a day, reduced their artery wall thickness, indicating improvement
in the fatty deposits. This translated into a reduction in heart
attack risk by up to 11 percent and stroke risk by up to 15 percent.
In an another study, Robert Schneider in the American Journal of
Cardiology found that in 202 elderly people practicing transcendental
meditation, there were 30% fewer deaths from heart disease and 49%
fewer from cancer. In a recent study reported in the Winter 2007
edition of the journal Ethnicity and Disease and sponsored by the
National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a division
of the National Institutes of Health, regular meditation was found
to benefit patients with congestive heart failure. This deadly disease
is diagnosed in 500,000 people and kills 300,000 people, according
to figures from the American Heart Association.

Scientific
Research on Transcendental Meditation
By
Fabrizio Coppola
Scientific
research has shown that the most beneficial meditation technique
is Transcendental Meditation (TM). The striking reduction of stress
and anxiety caused by TM are 3 times greater than the effect caused
by most meditation and relaxation techniques. Transcendental
Meditation has been taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi since 1958.
The first articles about the beneficial effects of TM were published
around 1970 on important magazines and scientific journals such
as, Science
(167, 1970), American
Journal of Physiology (221, 1971) and
Scientific American (226, 1972).
