Setting
Up Your Meditation Space
By Veronique Cartier
Experienced
meditators become increasingly aware of the subtle emanations which
come from things. But even you do not yet perceive those things
clearly, go with what your feel is right, follow your gut instinct.
On some level you already know what is right. Burning incense or
essential oils can raise the vibration of your environment and make
it easier for you to get into a meditative space, leaving for the
gross reality behind for a while. Ensure there will be no disturbances
while you meditate. You may need to turn the phone off, close or
even lock the door, tell your friends not to drop in at that time,
have someone look after the kids or allow them to come into your
space quietly. Make sure the room is clean and well ventilated.
There must be a sense of aliveness rather than staleness. You must
be able to breathe freely.

The
Basics of Good Meditation Practice
By
Ross O. Storey
You
should dress in very loose, comfortable, baggy clothing that does
not constrict you in any way. Many expert meditators barely cover
themselves at all; maybe just with a loin cloth. The environment
for your meditation should also be peaceful, pleasant, soothing
and relaxing. It could be your favourite room in the house, or in
your garden, or even in a warm bath. Should you be a bit more advanced
in your meditation journey, you could consider using an exercise
mat. Some people even have a favourite meditation chair. Try some
of the challenging positions you might have learned from your yoga
or even Pilates class. But, don't be too hard on yourself. Practice
easy positions first and build your meditation approach as you become
more confident.

Seven
Things to Consider for a Meditation Room
By Chris Le Roy
Meditation is
one of the great skills everybody should learn as it helps you in
developing a more effective mind and to help keep you at a state
of calm. If you are serious about meditation having a room dedicated
to the practice does one of two things. The room will after periods
of time bring about a sense of calm as soon as you walk into the
room because of the association between the room and peace. The
meditation room will also encourage you and remind you to stick
with the practice. All too often people start out on the meditation
journey only to abandon the practice a few months in because they
are feeling great.
