Improving
Your Meditation
By Laysa W.
I have been
meditating on a daily basis for over 10 years. Initially, I turned
to meditation as a relaxation technique to reduce stress. My technique
was simple -- I sat in a quiet area of my house and did basic breathing
techniques for approximately 10 minutes a day. Over the years, I
began to worship with the Unprogrammed Society of Friends (Quakers)
using a form of non-verbal prayer similar to group meditation. Most
of these worship services are an hour in duration. At first I found
the hour to be unbearable, but over time I began to realize that
I hit my deepest levels of meditation at the end of the worship
period. Trying to get deeper, I also increased the duration of my
individual meditation time. - Full

Energy
Enhancement Meditation
By Swami Satchidanand
This is
not a breathing exercise: one does not regulate the breath. Instead
one observes natural respiration as energy, as it comes in, as it
goes out. In this way one further calms the mind so that it is no
longer overpowered by violent negativities. At the same time, one
is concentrating the mind, making it sharp and penetrating, capable
of the work of discernment. These
first two steps of living a moral life and controlling the mind
are very necessary and beneficial in themselves; but they will lead
to self-repression, unless one takes the third step - purifying
the mind of Energy Blockages by developing insight into one's own
nature, being in the Energy Field of a Master of Meditation and
using the Advanced Blockage Busting Techniques of Energy Enhancement.

Full Body Awareness
By Robert Morgen
Now that
you’re comfortable working with your breath it’s time to bring the
rest of the body in. Continue breathing as I’ve outlined in my article
on Breathing. Now in addition to feeling your breath flow and your
stomach and ribs expand, I want you to feel the energy that flows
into your body with each breath. For me it feels like a lightness,
or a very light feeling. It may feel different for you so take some
time here and just open up and feel the energy. Now
when you draw the energy in can you feel it pooling at your center
of gravity just below your belly button? Now as you breathe just
let that pool of energy expand throughout your body. Can you feel
it flowing down through your legs and up your back and down your
arms? Take some time here and practice this feeling that energy
pool expand through your whole body. Later we’ll expand it out even
further, but for now just let it flow. -

Meditation
- Why Traditional Methods Fail
By
Laurie Desjardins
Meditation
has been practiced for thousands of years. Originally, these relaxation
techniques were used to bring people to a deeper understanding of
sacred or mystical truths. Meditation continues to be a central
part of many religions all over the world. Religious
purposes aside, meditation techniques reduce stress, lower blood
pressure, and increase the mind-body connection, making meditation
an important tool in complimentary and alternative medicine. They
can have been used to treat anxiety and depression, and help those
suffering from chronic pain. All
meditation techniques prompt you to clear and focus your mind. The
goal of meditation is to be in the moment without thinking of worries,
stresses, or discomfort. This intense focus creates deep relaxation
so that you can return to your project or daily life refreshed
